"I, a jaded New Yorker, signed up for the Inca Trail Marathon. I came with only one expectation -- I would run Machu Picchu and then brag about it to all of my friends back home. What actually happened was that I left with a dozen some best friends, and lucky enough to have memories that could last me a lifetime. The Inca Trail Marathon was one of the most difficult marathons I have ever attempted. The terrain, the altitude, the 5,000 Inca Stairs -- shake all of these ingredients together and you have a treacherously difficult run. Add race day anxiety and 18 or so crazy racers on the course at 5:30 am-- and you can create history. However, do not fear and stop there -- this marathon provides vistas, views and spiritual experiences so spectacular, only after completing the course can you can truly understand why Machu Picchu was built where it was. Trust me when I say, you will never regret any step you take. But be forewarned, the natural beauty of the snow covered mountains surrounded by the low whistle of the wind (or what can only be the secrets of the Inca past) will completely mesmerize you. You will need to come back. You will be drawn back. This place is truly, deeply magical. Honestly, this was so much more than a trip for me -- it drastically changed my perspective on my life going forward. Clearly, I suggest everyone take and conquer the Inca Trail Marathon Challenge."

"We all had an absolutely fabulous time!!! Everything, every place and everyone was so wonderful. The hotels, the food, the buses and train – everything more than exceeded our hopes. Every day was filled with something new and interesting – I can barely remember what we did from the beginning.

The Inti Raymi festival was incredible – we were able to stand outside of the cathedral and have the procession just at our feet – fantastic! The festival was stunning – and we were all so glad to be a part of it. The seats were perfect – we couldn’t believe how many people were there.

Cusco is a great city – so pedestrian with so many cathedrals and shops – lots to explore. From the books, I knew about the squares in Lima – but the rest of my crew was amazed to see the Spanish architecture and the cathedral there. Machu Picchu – the town – was a favorite of all of us – very cute. They seem to be doing a nice job of renovating it – but still maintaining its character.

And the hike – just incredible – a true journey. The porters put us to shame w/ their strength – very impressive. They were all so accommodating and had such a good sense of humor. The food was really good – and there was so much of it. We couldn’t believe how much we ate – but we liked to think we were working it off during the hikes.

Fredy and Vanesa were the best – they seemed to have everything under control. And, they were really good at inspiring everyone to keep going. And, they shared so much knowledge about not only the ruins, but also the trail and plant life – which added so much to the experience. I really want to say that both of them were true assets to our experience – they have such a passion for their country and fellow people – that we all fell in love w/ Peru through them. 10 days is a long time to spend with a tour guide – but Fredy fit in perfectly with out goofy group – and I know we’ve formed a lasting friendship.

And, they – along with Carmela – spoke very highly of you and your organization. You put together a fantastic trip for us – thank you. We really couldn’t have asked for anything more. "Hi Devy. The trip was absolutely phenomenal!! I can't begin to say enough. Completely awesome! Abelardo was just great. Very personable. Loved talking with him. We got a huge kick out of how he knew people absolutely everywhere we went. He's got the perfect schedule figured out for the hike. We never ran into a single hiker on the trail except for one late afternoon when we crossed paths with about 8 other people. It felt like we had one of the very special places on the planet nearly all to ourselves. We were particularly grateful to share the place with our fabulous porters, cook and crew. How they can carry those packs and nearly run with them is beyond me. WAY beyond me. We were doing good just to huff and puff along with our little backpacks! Hard to imagine how the Incas ever built that trail. Or built everything else they built. It's mind boggling. We enjoyed the time spent in Cusco and at the sites around Cusco as well as the sites and places in the Sacred Valley. We loved it all. It was the perfect itinerary. The right amount of time in the right places. Couldn't have been better.

We had a short but fun time in Lima as well. Carmela was right there on Day 1 when we got off the plane and was right there when we returned. She's just great as well. The information you all provided before the trip was perfect. Very comprehensive and enabled us to have everything we needed when we needed it.

I had been hoping to hike the Inca Trail for over 30 years so my expectations were very high. Hard to live up to when it's been a dream for so long. Yet in this case the trip exceeded whatever expectations I had. It was just spectacular. Thank you so very much for helping to make it a reality. "
