The high point of the Ausangate Circuit, Palomani Pass at 16,600 feet. Behind the group are the impressive glaciers and snowfields on the southwestern flank of the Ausangate group. From the pass the group hiked cross-country up a moderate slope to an elevation of 17,000 ft. This section is off the trail. It is not usual to have snow on the trail during the trekking season.
